Man arrested in India for radicalising youths for ISIS terrorirst group

The Uttar Pradesh anti-terror squad along with a special cell team of Delhi Police and Punjab Police on Thursday arrested one person from Jalandhar who was radicalising youths for ISIS.
Sources said that early on Thursday in a joint operation all three police forces nabbed 21-year-old Gazi Babba alias Muzalim from Sant Nagar in Jalandhar. He was working as a tailor in a shop for the last three years in the city. He originally belongs to Unnad in UP and had come to Punjab in search of work.

“He was radicalised online by an ISIS sympathiser and in turn started radicalising other youth online,’’ said a police official.

When contacted, commissioner of police, Jalandhar, Parveen Sinha confirmed that the alleged accused has been arrested and said that the UP ATS team would take him back to UP after obtaining his transit remand.

“He was involved in enrolling members for the terror group and preparing them for terror attacks. Further details on how they operated and what their targets were will come out once they are interrogated in detail,’’ he said.

He said, “They were definitely planning some big strikes across the country.”

A total of five teams of nine State police forces were formed and arrests were made across the country to nab the accused.
