ISIS emerges in southern Nineveh Province

US-led anti-IS Coalition jets carried out airstrikes on some newly-opened units of the Islamic State (IS) in south Nineveh.

According to Iraqi media outlets, the US-led anti IS coalition warplanes on Tuesday, January 30th carried out a number of attacks on some new units of the IS in a village of southern Nineveh.

The re-emergence of the extremist group of IS coincides with the Iraqi prime minister’s announcement on December 10th last year in which he declared the defeat of IS in the country.

The Islamic State (IS) extremist group first entered Iraq back in early 2014 and took control of Mosul, the largest city in the province, and other areas very quickly.
