Iranian-backed militias of Hashd al-Shaabi have started bulldozing houses belonging to Sunni Arab civilians near Hawija, reportedly retaliating for 27 militias of their ranks the Islamic State (IS) killed a day earlier there.
An eyewitness said on Monday the Shi’ite militias has sent 10 bulldozers to a village near Riyadh subdistrict of southwestern Kirkuk province to destroy civilian houses locating near the place where IS jihadists ambushed Hashd al-Shaabi militias on Sunday.
The size of damages brought to the area is not know yet.
A unit of 27 Hashd al-Shaabi militias were ambushed by IS jihadists in the area a day before, all of whom are reportedly killed.
Sourced revealed later that a person claiming to be a shepherd had given false information to Hashd al-Shaabi units to drag them into the ambush IS had set for them.
