Spanish police authorities detain ISIS terrorist suspect

The Spanish Interior Ministry said Wednesday that police had arrested a 28-year-old suspect accused of recruiting fighters for ISIS, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Spanish man who was detained in Spain’s north-African enclave of Ceuta was “responsible for distributing and transmitting material along the official channels of the terrorist organisation,” the ministry said.

The network was “potentially dangerous for the links its members had with jihadists in the ranks of ISIS in Syria and for its profound influence among young people in the ‘El Principe’ neighbourhood of Ceuta,” the ministry added.

The suspect “carried out communications work” and was considered as “a jihadist fighter,” it added.

Police arrested a 47-year-old Moroccan man in the town of Sagunto in eastern Spain on Monday for his links to Daesh, which raised the number of people detained for suspected jihadism in Spain to 252 since the beginning of 2015, Xinhua reported.
